Happy Spring – Is this the norm?

Wishing someone a “Happy Spring” – Is that normal? Is that what we do now? I just overheard someone on the phone say “Happy Spring to you too.” I hope that if it were me I would have replied the same way. However, it is more likely I would have said something ridiculous and borderline rude.
